And guess who picked my layout.... drumrolls please!!! tan-dara-ran!!!!! It's none other than THE BECKY FLECK of PAGEMAPS!!!!!!! WOW!!! She made some comments that really MADE MY DAY! hahaha

To see what the heck I am blabbing about, go see it HERE. And while you're there, go check out the other fantastic layouts my co-idol comps posted... I can only imagine what the judges had to go through again hehehe well, QUITS lang! lol!! Coz the next round is definitely something that will ALTER our worlds!

Yep, you heard me right... we have to ALTER a household item and make it something useful other than what it is originally intended for. wAhaaattt!!!!!??! I've never done this kind of thing ever in my scrapbooking life.... Sure, I did some notebooks/journals BUT it still has the same purpose, it's still a notebook FPS!

HA!!! What a challenge... I hope I'd be able to get through this.. please pray for me people... pray pray pray for me ok?? :)

SMI Round 2 - What's your color?

Pink!
That's what I used in my entry to the Scrappin Mom's IDOL challenge round 2.
Check out all the entries here (still not allowed to post it anywhere at this point.. til I am out hehe).

SOOOO MAANNYY great layouts grabe!
Mahihirapan ang mga judges I am sure :)
Well, if finally matanggal ako.. it's ok with me.. kakapagod honestly..
from the time I started on my layout (this weekend) I had a nagging headachae and I was pretty sure how bad it could be if I don't rest.. as in REST na walang iniisip..
And sure it was, come Sunday meron na nga! But I didn't mind bec I have to finish my entry. I succumbed to my bed late Monday evening coz hindi ko na tlaga kaya. My eyes were getting blurry and my back seemed to stiff from my neck down to my spine (it's called S-T-R-E-S-S lol!!)
I was kind of worried if I don't rest right away it would take more than a couple of days for it to subside in case it turn out as MIGRAINE. Lo and behold! Came Tuesday morning... MY HEAD and EYES and MY WHOLE FACE ached like someone is banging me with a HAMMER! A really HUGE ONE! Didn't complain with my mom.. sbihin nun" EH kse scrapbook ng scrapbook!!" hehehe I just told her masakit ulo ko. But, maybe she notices kse I didn't eat like the way I usually do (bandehado!!! hahaha) I felt I was gonna throw up everytime I think of food (well, just these last two days lol!!).

I showed my mom the photos I'm gonna be using in my entry and she said, "BAKIT YAN??? wala na bang ung MAS MAGANDA ko??" I was laughing my head off! I just told her what else can I use, FPS she's 7 years younger in those photos!?! lol!! So I went about and did my lo until late last night. I took some photos but the colors were kind of wonky (it's not pink at all!!) and this morning, it's worst I think (it's still not pink at all!!)... well, I guess either one.. it still looked the same lol!! :D

My journaling was really LONG, naiiyak ako along the way (blush*blush)... April had to do it in three parts (including the materials used) hahaha Just check it out here. It is entitled "MAMA"...Thanks for looking!
And thanks for reading this :D

Scrapbukan has turned three

.... and just like the previous years, they had their annual challenge!
You have to make a layout using paper lines they chose and use number three/3 in your title.
There were five lucky winners (1st to 3rd and 2 honorable mentions hehe) and I'd say it were really gorgeous and very deserving to win! Check them out at Scrapbukan's blog.

Here is my entry (MME's tres jolie and signature life lines). Thanks for looking!

2nd Design Attempt
Here I go again... attempted to design digital papers :)
This time, I used 300dpi but on a 6x6 -in case I want to print some for future use.
And if someone would actually ask for it..like a freebie?? hahah Yeah, dream on :)
But I am so willing to share.. so just holler if someone reading this want one oki :)
I had fun doin' these cute GRID 6x6 papers.
Grid papers are really "in style" right now.
And oh, also did some "notebook papers" but with no "notebook holes" hehehe (MAHIRAP ha and I'm still trying to figure out how to do it)
Below is an example of what I'm talking about...

ROUND 1

I made it to the next round! Wohoo!
They picked 30 from the 39 layouts in the Scrappin Moms IDOL gallery.
It's really a totally different feeling when you are "hoping" to get into the next round hahaha
Yeah, I am hoping not expecting coz all the layouts are beautiful and creatively done.
We all have our different idols and most of us scraplifted the SAME person yet the layouts came out differently for each participants. Different in a creative way!

Check it out HERE, I think it's still not allowed to post ANYWHERE the layouts entered until the end of the contest. My layout is "That Summer Look."

And on to the next round... USING CARDSTOCKS ONLY!
Now, THAT IS A CHALLENGE!
Click HERE to read more about the challenge... it will make you diiizzzyyy hehehe

SCRAPPIN' MOMS IDOL Challenge

It's a 2-month long challenge which started this August and will last until October, in time for the 4th Scrapfest. And yesterday was the last day of submission of layouts for the Elimination Round. Judges will be, of course, the Scrappin' Moms and some guest judge/s.

The first challenge is to SCRAPLIFT an INTERNATIONAL SCRAPBOOKER'S work. But the scrapbooker has to be YOUR IDOL. Hmmm I got to think not just twice but many times over who I will pick among my idols... you see, I love Heidi Swapp, Elsie Flannigan, C.D. Muckosky, Maria Grace Abuzman, Rhonna Farrer..to name a few.. I was having a dilemna! Why them anyway? I think I am a freestylin' scrapbooker and I find myself more and more loving doodling and using my own handwriting as a TOOL. Wow, I only thought of that just NOW..lol!!!

So, what I did was surf the net for some of their layouts that I could scraplift in consideration to what I have in hand: pictures and stash. But my main concern are my photos. Time is running out for me and I don't have the luxury to have something developed and I AM IN PANIC already!!! lol!! So I really had to focus on finding a lo to scraplift that fits the bill.

I browsed through my idol's galleries and blogs... I had a hard time finding Heidi's coz I think she had very few public layouts and the older ones are so hard to find!! Though I have one that I've scraplifted from Heidi's a long time ago, SMI has a rule that the lo MUST be new and has to be for SMI's challenge purpose. So, I am off again in finding the perfect lo...

It was a tough choice... I want MG's elegant and simple browns and pinks.. and also Rhonna's digital layouts (you can scraplift a digi lo)...and Elsie's freestyle... but C.D.'s beautiful children tagged at my heart hehehe THEY ARE SO ADORABLE!!! I wish I could have girls like them.. they are stinkin' cute!!! And what's more charming, THEY ARE ALL GIRLS! Uhuummm!!! :)

I thought I'd never make it on time if I fiddle-diddle and keep on staring on their los. I had to choose ASAP! Oh, I forgot to tell when was all these fuzz?? Sunday!! And the submission was due yesterday 1pm!! Imagine the cramming donna going off the roof coz she couldn't decide which one to scraplift! LOL!!

To make the long story short.. I chose C.D.s layout of her daughter Kaiella. The lo is titled "just being you @ 2" You have to go to her blog to have a preview.. I'm not sure if I can upload it here (don't want some problem or sumthing) so just go check it out HERE.

Unfortunately again, I can't upload my entry here also.. if you want, go check it out at SCRAPPIN MOM's site. Mine is titled "That Summer Look".

There are lots of GREAT and GORGEOUS and CREATIVE layouts in there!! I'm excited and nervous at the same time! If I don't make it in the next round, it's ok with me.

The first reason why I joined the IDOL challenge is to CHALLENGE MYSELF to overcome something in me. I have this fear in joining challenges.... BELIEVE ME OR NOT, I DO! I have palpitations and I feel sick whenever I join challenges.... Others may not see it but, I get an upset stomach and my neck and eyes hurt and I feel dizzy!!! I think my brain freezes so hand and mind coordination don't meet!!!! hahaha I am not over-reacting or anything.

Encouragement and belief from fellow scrapbookers (I consider them my mentors) made me push through... not just for this particular challenge but for some other past challenges as well. I will not name names baka I forget someone magalit or magtampo! hahaha They know who they are =)

Hey mentors, you are the ones telling me to believe in my creativity and my work... thanks to ALL of YOU! Win or lose, I am happy whichever.

"What?!?! I won?!?!"

The lady beside me at NBS (National Bookstore) jumped in surprise when I shouted those words after reading text messages from two good friends and great scrapbookers as well, Mabelle Rubia (MSW) and Lee Imao (PS)!

They congratulated me on winning the MLA-VALERIE SKETCH challenge over at MSW!!!
Even if I almost got drenched from the heavy rain on my way home I didn't care! hahaha
I hurriedly took two jeep rides and one 3cycle going home to check my emails (yes, my place is sorta a subdivision IN village.. oh, never mind! LOL!!). To make the story short, I scanned an email from Ms Nette and sure there's one! A link directed me on the announcement! Voila!! It's my page Ms. Nette (MLA) and Ms. Val (VALERIE SALMON) chose as the winning entry!!! Wohooo!!!!

There were a lot of ladies (both in PS and SE groups) who congratulated me abt the news and saw DIANE M. was one of the FIRSTS to greet me! HA!! Grabe ka sister, bilis mo sa news! lol!!

I entered two layouts actually. One using Fancy Pants Keylime, So Sweet

and another one entitled Remember, using Basic Grey Stella Ruby papers.
And that's the one, they chose!!!
Below is my winning layout :)

What a great blessing to start a great week! :)

THANKS MS NETTE MADERO (MY LITTLE ATTIC) and MS VALERIE SALMON! :)

And last but not the least, MS JOANNE YAP. You are my inspiration on these two layouts... I KNOW YOU CAN TELL WHY! lol!! I truly love your style and I kind of liked it on my layouts more often as you will see in the future lol!! May I say this one's for you! (wink*wink)

Friendship

This layout was originally made for Valerie Salmon's 1st OUTLINES challenge over at MSW. I didn't submit it though, it's gonna be my first time to use BG papers for a challenge :D
These papers were my FIRST BG papers purchased. I was afraid to use it, it's so pretty! lol!! But come to think of it, if I don't use it anytime soon, when will I??With all those BG papers coming out, I think it will just fade into oblivion :D
SO before I forget I have these beautiful papers pala, I did use it on this layout...
It's really a simple one.. I was not in the mood the time I did this to make a layout like I usually do, bulky with layers of papers and cut out embellishments or flowers...

Photos are of my HS friends (BABILOS) at sis-in-law's (and one of BABILOS too) wedding.
Why BABILOS? Wala lang, gusto lang namin hehehe Well, kidding aside.. it's all because SHAIDER (Japanese, I think) was quite "famous" that time (just think when was that, I don't want to go down memory lane hahaha joke!) and we were one of those bunches of naughty and "kengkoy" HS girls...
I really love these friends of mine...just love love 'em :D
We missed the other girls who didn't make it to this mini-reunion...it was either they were abroad or just simply missing in action hehe
Present that day were me (the abay), SIL Maey (the bride), Michelle, Maricris and Sheryl.
Oh and you know what, we have "nicknames".. eally funny ones!!!
I'd have to make a layout about that yet hahaha some were kind of "obscene" I'm telling you :D
Or maybe blog our story sometime.. some other time, have to ask for the names first, I even forgot mine alreay :D (memory gap!)
Anyways, here it is... :D
Thanks for looking!
